Seriously
Ok, i understand the fact that it would be desirable to have an option for the backround or even changing them from week to week or month to month. How much time do you spend looking at that screen? me? not alot. Personally its not really bothersome to me. I can see how it might get boring, but to be willing to pay for it is a little extreme.. and that would be kinda weak to get in a pre order package.

This idea, as cool as it would be, isn't going to happen. From a coding standpoint, it can't happen.

The other loading screens do not have the capabilities the current one has. A lot of things have been added and a lot of aspects have changed. The Store, more than 4 characters, new character creation screens, etc etc. The older loading screens would have to be completely redone to fit the current build of GW.

all the changes you mention has nothing to do with the background. he doesnt ask for a ui change, just the background behind all the new stuff.
i agree with big mutt tho, not really a needed change.

Ever since TexMod use has become prevalent, it becomes rather obvious that ArenaNet is wrong about their title screen, and either they have the worst programmers in the world or they are using it as a BS excuse. The background of the title screen and the buttons are seperate entitys, as is the news window and the login windows. You can change the background all you want (editing colors etc) and it does not change the buttons because they are all textures. Changing the background does not effect the other button textures nor their functionality.
So either Anet has the worst programmers in the gaming industry or they just don't want to do it for time reasons.
Take a guess which 1 is right. (hint: the latter)

yea this is true and this is my thought be hind why it can be done. the old screens are just 3d environments with are toon in them.

Exactly. It's all about replacing background model and music. Which, if devs are sane, has only reference to it hardcoded which can be easily made configurable.
(I want "stylish" Factions screen back, damnit)

i figured it out
5$ they lost the old panorama graphics.
thats why they can't do it, they accidentally deleted them, because it isn't that hard to make panorama's and a configurable option for them. Nothing would be affected unless if they honestly have the worst programmers known to man because not even a freaking COLLEGE FRESHMAN PROGRAMMER would do something that would prevent them from allowing a panorama to be changed.
seriously!

The problem isn't the panorama, it's the way the characters display. Each login screen has displayed the character differently making it impossible to go back to the old ones. (i.e. prophecies campfire screen - which was AWESOME!!!!)

Prophecies screen is indeed completely different, but again, other three all work same way and from all we know should be easily exchangeable.

IF thats the case they need to just remove that part of the code. and replace it with the new stuff. but like i said before i would much rather be able to move toons around or have better sorting options like by profession or age, or by gender.

Oh I absolutely agree. The login screen definitely needs some tweaks. I really don't like the EOTN one and would like to see even just a different bacground image, but sorting options are DEFINITELY a must for me.

Maybe you don't understand from my last post, but all those are are textures super-imposed onto the panorama.
To make it more common speak, this is what is in the title screen:
*1 texture that says Guild Wars
*a programmed box that displays news.
*1 moving or not moving background graphic.
*A bunch of SEPARATE textures for a login button, a login window, and an Options button.
*After logging in, a character select screen that is a bunch of SEPARATE textures.
The moving or not moving background graphic is a set of textures completely different from the textures of the character select screen, options menu, login window, etc. TexMod easily proves this. None of the textures of the options menu or character select screen are a part of the panorama, they are completely different, separate, textures that are placed on top of the panorama.
Basically you could change the panorama to the Prophecies one right now, and it'll look the exact same except have Prophecies music, and the Prophecies background, and the Prophecies character select background. There is absolutely nothing that would prevent this, as the multiple character arrows things are also textures super imposed on top of the background. You'd still have the current gen EOTN looking login window, news, options button obviously.
literally the only way this isn't possible is if they are terrible programmers and considering they decided to use BLOBs instead of GUI's for item tracking, I'm going to assume they aren't terrible programmers and are just lazy and/or time & money issues.

GGG-GRAVEDIGGER!
I'm sorry, but, please. Everyone here who has programmed even a mite knows this can be done. I watched that movie on Nightfall's making, and I believe the production team said they wanted people to love Guild Wars. Well, doing things like this are the way to do it.
